Connectivity Questions

Q.) I try to dial into Digital Link but I get an error saying that there is not dial tone, what should I do?

bullet A) Make sure that your phone line is plugged into the modem all the way. Most modems have two jacks on them so you will have to make sure that the line is plugged into the right one. Each jack should have a label whether it be a text label or a picture label. Make sure that the line is plugged into the one marked "Line" or with a picture of a phone jack on it. If the computer still reports no dial tone feel free to bring your computer into Performance Computers for one of our technicians to look at since your modem may have been damaged by an electrical surge.

Q.)  My computer seems to connect all the way, but it keeps asking me for my password. What's wrong?

bullet A) It may be possible that your account is on hold. Accounts are usually put on hold due to a late payment. You may call our tech support line and ask a technician to check on the status of your account or online via the Account Info link on the left. Be sure to know your username if you call. If your account is on hold you may either pay over the phone or online using a credit card or come into our offices and pay using cash, check, or credit card. After payment your account will be reactivated within 24hrs.

Q.)  I can connect fine to Digital Link but I cannot connect at full speed and/or I get disconnected after a period of time. What's wrong?

bullet A) Your phone line may have noise on it. Noise is commonly caused by old wiring and usually occurs to some degree after rain. You can call your phone company and ask them to test your line. You can also try to rerun the Digital Link setup which you can download here.
